about Girls Go Series
know us.
Started in 2005,Girls Go Series (GGS) is an initiative by Saff-Perdaus that aims to develop and empower Muslim
girls in Singapore. Saff purports youth as prime-movers of society, and manifests this through its programmes.
As girls have particular needs that require special attention, a girls-focused programme is exclusively designed
to provide an avenue for girls to discuss, learn and support one another in developing and strengthening their role
as leaders.
Our approach is to work hand-in-hand with women leaders, local partners, national and international organizations
to provide young girls with the knowledge and skills to enrich and improve their lives, in such a way that brings
about positive changes in their families, communities and society as whole.
Among the many aspects of youth development which Saff has been championing, our sensitivity given to girls and accommodations made for them through mass programmes and activists’ training are most notable. For instance,
Saff is the first Muslim organization in Singapore to introduce the loose, big-sized T-shirt for girls in sports and outdoor
activities. Saff has been pertinent in catering to the interests of girls while maintaining Islamic etiquette through the
introduction of such provisions.
Another key milestone for Saff is Pertiwi, an annual all-girls camp by girls, for girls, and all about girls. Pertiwi had
soared in popularity among the local Malay-Muslim community and maintained to be the only girls camp that matters,
amidst the mushrooming of similar girls camps by other local youth bodies.
As an extension of this initiative, Girls Go Series is offered as a comprehensive package catered specifically for girls.
It intends to fill the gap in the local youth scene, and is expected to propel Saff to greater heights in youth outreach and development.
